Breathing New Life into a Shorewood Classic

Some homes just have it—the kind of character that pulls you in from the moment you walk through the door. That was exactly the case for the Olsens when we helped them find their new home in Shorewood.

After helping them sell their previous home in Fox Point, we worked alongside them to see the true potential in this charming Shorewood property. With its original hardwood floors, built-ins, and beautiful fireplaces, it already had so much personality just waiting for a thoughtful refresh to make it truly theirs.

Now, a few months after closing in August 2025, we’re deep into transforming this house into the Olsens’ dream home through a full design + build renovation.

The Kitchen Refresh

The kitchen is the heart of their home, and our goal is to honor its existing character while giving it new life. We’re refreshing the original cabinets with a crisp new paint color, adding sleek quartz countertops, and introducing a beautiful new island with a rich dark wood stain for contrast. It’s the perfect blend of old charm and modern functionality.

We’re also closing up a redundant door to create something the home was missing: a convenient first-floor laundry room right off the kitchen.

A Living Room with Function

In the living room, we’re embracing the home’s built-in charm while adding a touch of sophistication. A new wet bar will take shape within the existing built-ins, featuring a dark-stained cabinet base, black quartz countertops, and mercury glass backing on the upper shelves. It’s an elegant detail that will make entertaining or a quiet night in feel extra special.

The Main Bathroom Transformation

Upstairs, the main bathroom is getting a complete refresh. We’re replacing the outdated layout with a beautiful new walk-in shower lined in green tile, complemented by fresh tile throughout, new lighting, and a furniture-style vanity that brings warmth and character to the space. We’re also carving out room for a dedicated linen closet, because beauty and practicality should always go hand in hand.

This project has been such a rewarding one to watch unfold. From helping the Olsens find their new home to reimagining it room by room, we love being part of the full journey, seeing a house’s potential and turning it into something that feels exactly right for the people who live there.
